Violet Sorrengail's second signet is distance wielder

Ladies, gents and dragons, we have another fan theory about Violet’s second signet. And this time is all about Violet being a distance wielder. And I have to say, it’s compelling to be fair.

We all spoke about Violet’s second signet before and I even theorized that she is a dream walker.

This theory is brought to you by Elizaveta Vinogradova who also sent to us her theory about Garrick Tavis being a compass (his signet). Oh so smart, I love it!!

“It is believed that a rider’s signet is a reflection of their being and overall desires or needs.
In the interview, Rebecca Yarros committed, that second signet has already manifested in “Iron flame”!

What do we know about Violet’s second dragon? It’s Andárna.
The full name is Andarnaurram. In Scottish Gaelic, “Andarnaurram” is translated into three words: an dàrna urram.

In English, that means “the second honor.”
The second honor, the second dragon, just the second – this is understandable.

But! We wish to know more. What power hides inside the second dragon? Who is SHE? Let’s play anagrams.

How many words can you form from one word -Andarnaurram. So, I’ve already done it.
I was really shocked and surprised. My theory about the second signet was confirmed.

RADARMAN
RUN

A RUN RADARMAN = Andarnaurram
Radarman- target detection and run.

It means the second signet is the distance and speed charmer!
As Rebecca said, we should pay attention to the epigraphs. So, now we know that the distance wielders haven’t appeared for a hundred years, which similar to Andárna’s age.
Is it coincidence? I don’t think so.

Let’s go back to signet term.
It is believed that a rider’s signet is a reflection of their being and overall desires or needs.

In “Iron flame” we see clear Violet’s desire to run fast. It’s not just a wish, it’s her need. It’s important for her. She started to train with Imogen.
She tries to run away from venin in her dreams, she wants to, but she can’t.
So, when could it have manifested?
Chapter 64.
«Damn, Sorrengail, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you run that fast!» Aaric lifts his brows. The emphasis is made for a reason.

Aaric is shocked. Violet is not just running. She is running extremely fast! That’s why we can see emotions like that.

It seems that Aaric saw something extraordinary.

I believe that Violet Sorrengail’s second signet is a distance and speed charmer.
” I am the storm!”

More lines I have found in the books that could suggest she is a distance wielder

Ok, I have to say, I agree 100%. I’ve never been more convinced that this is Violet’s second signet. In fact, I even went and re-read parts of Iron Flame and yeah, I think Elizaveta nailed this one.

Fourth Wing

Garrick leans from his seat and flings a dagger, but before it can reach the venin, the robed figure slams his staff into the ground and disappears like he was never there in the first place.
He moved. But to where?
“The hell?” I shout into the wind.
“A general can recognize another general, and that’s their leader,” Tairn says.”

(Clearly our venin general is a distance wielder, right? He moved by literally disappearing himself.)
——

Iron Flame

“You’re always in the right place—” My eyebrows rise. “Are you a distance wielder?” I’ve only read about two riders in all of history who could cross hundreds of miles in a single step.

(And one of them she read about? I think it’s our general venin. So at the end of Iron Flame, when he “fell” in the river? Yeah, he wielded himself out of there, no doubt. General venin is not dead.)

——-

“There hasn’t been a distance wielder in centuries, and don’t you think if I was one, I would have spent every night in your bed?” He shakes his head.“

(Hasn’t been one in centuries…and yet, general venin is one of them. Clearly he is somehow immortal. And one more thing. He does address this with Violet. Keep on reading.)

——

Fight me and die, or join me and live beyond the ages, but you will never escape me, not when I’ve waited centuries for someone with your power.

(Oh look how convenient. He WAITED centuries for someone with that power…Could it be that he waited for Violet because she has the same power?)

—–

These, combined with how she managed to do all those jumps from dragon to dragon, “run so fast”, and Andarna’s name playing as a acronym for us? Yup, I’m now 100% convinced that Violet is our distance wielder!

Another thing. Rebecca Yarros did say that we will be underwhelmed by Violet’s second signet.

But will we, though? Because being a distance wielder is a hell of a signet that can really make or break a lot of things in battle. Including her ability to RUN fast from the channeling venin.

Which makes me think of another theory…what is, Violet is going to use Xaden to train with him to fight against venin? That could be dangerous…So she might need to run fast…from Xaden.

Anyway, just throwing more thoughts at you. I’m really curious to know what are your thoughts about Violet being a distance wielder!

Share that Venin and Wyvern are real!

One response to “Onyx Storm Theory: Violet’s second signet is distance wielder”

  1. Distance wielder YES
Her battle style and tendency to need to save those around her, constantly checking in, watching, timing, her thought processing.
It is who she is as well as what she needs at her core.
100% on board with this theory
I feel like the speed boost is more to do with how powerful her dragons are though. I bet she is going to start the whole blink teleporting thing when Andara officially starts to channel.
