Physical Appearance:

Berwyn has a scar down the middle of his face, which he received when Xaden threw him into a ravine at Basgiath.

About

Berwyn wields extraordinary power, enough to slay a dragon with a dagger. He is not just Xaden’s and Jack’s sage but also he himself said that he is a general (maven).

A recurring motif in his story is the unnatural bond that ties him to Xaden, a connection that should not exist and yet renders Xaden unable to harm him, further complicating their shared history.

Relationships

Berwyn’s relationship with Xaden Riorson is one of the most complex and emotionally charged aspects of his arc. The two share a bond that is as inexplicable as it is unbreakable, preventing Xaden from killing Berwyn.

This dynamic creates a deeply personal and painful conflict for Xaden.

Berwyn refers to Jack Barlowe as his son. He talks to Panchek who has been an informant for the venin.

Berwyn is not liked by his fellow maven Theophanie.

At the end of Onyx Storm, Berwyn has another son, which it is presumed to be one of Xaden’s closest allies.

Share that Venin and Wyvern are real!

  1. Berwyn is Cam’s brother, Alic, who died after falling from the parapet, thrown by Xaden

    1. He didn’t die at Parapet? He died during Threshing when Xaden killed him.

      1. Just like Jake…

    2. Xaden beheaded Alec during threshing

  2. Hii. Anyone thought about the idea that maybe Berwin could be the last pilot of Sgaeyl??? Was the grand pa of xaden??

    1. I thought of it, but according to Xaden, the grandaddy died in the quadrant.

  3. Is Berwyn definitely not Naolin? Is Naolin the highest ranking Venin we haven’t met yet? And does Tairn know what happened to Naolin and just not telling? When it might help?

    1. It’s hard to tell. I also think he is btw.

  4. We know that Xaden lifts his hand from the ground before losing that last fragment of his soul. I hope that saves him. I think Berwyn kills dragons easily with a dagger because his own connection to Tairn was severed. Someone needs to kick Tairns butt to get him to start spilling his secrets. He would only protect other dragons over Violet so Naolin shouldn’t hold that much power over him.

  5. Am I the only one who feels the “bond” between Xaden and Berwyn goes back to way before the story begins?

    1. Noooo. They are def related. I am certain of it. Given the sword incidence, I am certain that Berwyn is a lost Tyrrendor king.

      1. That too, which I haven’t picked up on. Only on my second read.
But at the battle at BWC. When Violet goes to fire up the wards stone and Xaden insists that the sage is “waiting for” him, even is “late” because he thought they’d come to Samara. Violet challenges “how do you know that?” and Xaden simply says “Don’t ask!” 😳
I mean, whatever happened to no secrets, dude?
I feel like there’s so much untold history in that context that we need to know to unlock how to save him.
