Fourth Wing fans, we need to talk.
Yes, we are all extremely excited that the Fourth Wing TV adaptation is officially moving deeper into the casting phase. But let’s be honest: the fandom has been watching, theorizing, investigating, and connecting dots for a long time now. From rumored names to suspicious social media activity, everyone has been trying to figure out who will bring Rebecca Yarros’ beloved characters to life.
And while names like Danny Griffin have been floating around in connection with the cast in one way or another, there is one fan cast that refuses to die.
Mackenzie Foy as Violet Sorrengail.
And honestly? The more you look at it, the more it starts to feel possible.
Why Mackenzie Foy Has Always Been a Top Violet Sorrengail Fan Cast

Since we learnt that we will have a Fourth Wing series, Mackenzie Foy has been one of the most popular fan casts for Violet Sorrengail. Long before the Fourth Wing adaptation gained this much momentum, fans were already imagining her as Basgiath War College’s fragile-but-deadly heroine. I would know because I used to receive hundreds of messages about her every day and even more fan casting votes.
And it is not hard to see why.
Mackenzie Foy fits so many of Violet’s key physical traits. In fact, she is Violet Sorrengail. She is petite, around 1.59m, and at 26 years old, she could very believably play a 20-year-old Violet. She already has that delicate, ethereal beauty fans often associate with Violet. She also has all the key elements too: she has pale skin, hazel green-brown eyes (what were the chances?!), and soft features that could easily transform into the sharp, determined presence of a dragon rider. She even has fantastic long brown hair…all she needs are some silver tips and voila!
But this theory is not just about looks.
Mackenzie Foy Has the Acting Range for Violet Sorrengail
Mackenzie Foy made her major film debut as Renesmee in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, but she has grown far beyond that role. Over the years, she has proven herself to be a strong, emotional, and compelling actress, with Interstellar standing out as one of her most memorable performances.
That matters because Violet Sorrengail is not just another fantasy heroine.
Violet is intelligent, vulnerable, stubborn, strategic, physically underestimated, emotionally guarded, and quietly fierce. She is not the loudest person in the room, but she is often the smartest. She is not physically indestructible, but she survives through grit, wit, and sheer refusal to give up.
That balance of fragility and inner steel is exactly what an actress playing Violet needs to capture.
And Mackenzie Foy has already shown she can bring emotion, restraint, and intensity to the screen.
The Black Beauty Connection: Mackenzie Foy Knows How to Train for a Role

One of the most interesting parts of this theory is Mackenzie Foy’s preparation history.
When she starred in Disney+’s Black Beauty, she took horseback riding seriously. She reportedly trained extensively before filming and spent time on set in South Africa bonding with the horses and learning difficult riding sequences, including a no-hands beach riding scene.
That tells us something important: Mackenzie Foy is not afraid of physically demanding preparation.
And now?
She has been rock climbing.
Mackenzie Foy’s Rock Climbing Posts Have Fourth Wing Fans Suspicious
Recently, Mackenzie Foy posted on Instagram that she has been enjoying rock climbing. On its own, that might seem harmless. Plenty of people take up climbing as a hobby.
But Fourth Wing fans know better than to ignore suspicious timing.
Even more interesting? This did not just begin yesterday. Mackenzie first posted about indoor rock climbing back on January 17, which means this has been going on for months.

Of course, some fans might immediately connect climbing to the Gauntlet at Basgiath. And yes, that would make sense. But I think there is more to it than that.
What if the climbing is not just about the Gauntlet?
What if it is about learning how to move like someone who has to climb dragons?
What if it is about preparing to mount Tairn?
Because Violet Sorrengail does not just survive Basgiath. She has to train, fight, climb, ride, and endure one of the most brutal military environments in fantasy.
And suddenly, Mackenzie Foy’s climbing era starts to look very interesting.
The Braid Detail We Cannot Ignore
Another small detail that caught my attention is her hair.
In her climbing posts, Mackenzie Foy has been wearing her very long hair in a braid. Again, this could mean absolutely nothing. But in the world of Fourth Wing fan theories, no detail is too small.
Violet’s hair is one of her most iconic physical features. Long brown hair with silver ends is instantly recognizable to readers. Seeing Mackenzie with long braided hair while training physically is exactly the kind of visual that makes fans pause.
Coincidence? Maybe.
But it is a very convenient one.
Mackenzie Foy’s Martial Arts Background Makes Her Even More Interesting
Let’s also not forget that Mackenzie Foy has trained in Taekwondo and holds a black belt.
That is a major point in her favor.

Violet may begin Fourth Wing as physically underestimated, but she is still forced into an elite military environment where combat, discipline, endurance, and movement matter. An actress with martial arts training would already have a strong physical foundation for fight choreography and stunt preparation.
For a role like Violet, that matters.
Did Mackenzie Foy Read Fourth Wing?
Another piece of the puzzle that fans keep coming back to is the fact that Mackenzie Foy once posted a story reading Fourth Wing.
Now, reading the book does not automatically mean she has been cast. Actors can be fans too. People read popular books. That alone is not confirmation.
But when you combine it with years of fan casting, climbing posts, physical training, braided hair, and the current casting buzz around the Fourth Wing adaptation, it becomes much harder to ignore.
At the very least, it proves she knows the world fans are associating her with.
The Rebecca Yarros Black-and-White Profile Photo Theory
Now here is where things get even more intriguing.

Recently, Rebecca Yarros changed her profile picture to black and white. We do not know why. It could mean nothing. It could be related to Fourth Wing. It could be connected to Violet’s birthday on July 3. It could even be tied to the fandom’s remembrance of Liam’s death day on July 1.

But then fans noticed something else.
Mackenzie Foy also changed her profile picture to black and white.
Again, this is not proof. It is not confirmation. It is not an official casting announcement.
But two women heavily connected by fan speculation around Violet Sorrengail both changing their profile pictures in a similar way, around a significant Fourth Wing timeline moment?
That is the kind of coincidence fans are absolutely going to notice.
And honestly, can you blame us?

What About Inde Navarrette as Violet Sorrengail?
Another name that has recently been rumored among fans is Inde Navarrette.
To be clear, Inde Navarrette is a fantastic actress. She absolutely has the talent and screen presence to belong in the Fourth Wing universe. I could easily see her playing a strong side character in the series.
But personally, I do not see her as Violet Sorrengail.
For me, Violet needs a very specific balance. She has to appear physically fragile while still carrying deep intelligence, emotional restraint, and hidden strength. Violet is introspective. She is observant. She is not someone who enters a room demanding attention, but she becomes impossible to ignore once she starts proving everyone wrong.
Inde Navarrette has a more forward, commanding energy, which could be perfect for another character, but not necessarily Violet.
Violet’s strength is quieter. Sharper. More internal.
That is why Mackenzie Foy still feels like such a strong possibility. She just fits.
Could Mackenzie Foy Actually Be Violet Sorrengail?
So, is Mackenzie Foy officially our Violet Sorrengail?
Not yet. Nothing has been confirmed.
But is it possible? Absolutely.

She has been one of the fandom’s top Violet Sorrengail fan casts for years. She fits the physical image many readers have of Violet. She has the acting experience, emotional range, physical discipline, martial arts background, and role-preparation history needed for a demanding fantasy series like Fourth Wing.
And now, with the climbing posts, the braid, the Fourth Wing connection, and the mysterious black-and-white profile picture changes, the theory feels more alive than ever.
Maybe it is all coincidence. Maybe we are reading too deeply into Instagram posts… but I don’t think so.
When it comes to Fourth Wing casting theories, Mackenzie Foy as Violet Sorrengail remains one of the most compelling possibilities out there.
And if she does end up being announced as Violet? Let’s just say the fandom will not be surprised. We have been calling it for years.
